A K-type thermocouple is a type of temperature sensor with a wide measurement range (-200ºC to 1350ºC). To get the temperature from the thermocouple you also need a thermocouple amplifier. The type-k thermocouple used with microcontrollers is usually sold together with the MAX6675 amplifier.
